Current Status

JUNE 25, 2003 - Great news!  I've recently come on to some new reference material on the "ion nebulizer" prop and will starting on a whole new set of blue prints!

OCTOBER 5, 2003 - I've added the new pics of the Ion Nebulizer the Props pages.

OCT 21, 2001 - After a lot of hunting I've located two additional photo of the Nebulizer that lends some credence to the flared body styling.   They're not conclusive, but they do give us a bit more detail.  I'll also be putting up a reference page in a week or so.

Here are some photos of a Nebulizer created by Mike Bolin  last July. I wasn't too sure about the flaring but it looks close... Time for more hunting!

AUG 15, 2001 - Another "Fan built" prop has shown up on eBay, This time it's a Ion Nebulizer hand weapon...  It raises and interesting question that I'll have to research:   Does the body indent or flare out above the handle?

SET 1 - Box Art Version

SET 2 - Series Prop Version

Current issues to be resolved:

1. What exactly is the size/shape of the Nebulizer?
The best Image I have to date is from a prop box from the convention scene, and a 8" x 10" pic... Which unfortunately isn't a lot to work with. The box art is very much like concept art... close but not exactly like the finished version.  From what I can tell, there appears to be 3 distinctive versions of the Nebulizer:

  1. The prop toy box art version.

  2. The "fan/series" version.

  3. The "Thermian Real" version.

I think the versions I'm working on somewhere between them all... at this rate I can promise is about 60%-70% accuracy at best.  I'm hoping to find better reference in the future.  One of the best shots of the Nebulizer is in the Sci-Fi Channels Galaxy Quest special... so If anybody's got a clean copy they can grab some hi-res captures They'd be helpful. :)

2. Grip detail?
The only Image I have that shows a full sided profile (soon to be added to the prop reference page) appears to show the bottom of the grip to be more angled then I have in the "box art" version and there also appears to be a bit of a sort of "notch" on the bottom forward part of the grip.

Special Thanks to K. J. Karvonen for Source Reference Material!

PLEASE NOTE: The Nebulizer blueprints are based on reference material and not the original prop specifications... the dimensions given are base on measurement of the material I had to work with and a large number of educated guesses.   Short of the release of a set of original prints, this is as accurate as we're about to get.
